A Sweet Cupcake

When I was in JoAnn's last week I picked up a couple of DCWV matstacks that were on sale (of course everything in the store was on sale as usual). One of them was Sweet Glitter and this DP is from that pad.
When I was flipping through it and saw this paper I immediately thought of this cupcake image from PaperTrey's Baby Button Bits. So when I had a few minutes today I threw this card together. I colored the image with Copics and cut it out with Nestabilities and the mat is a coordinating paper from the same stack that I cut with the scalloped round Nestie.
Normally I would use a button on this image but for the sake of mailing I chose to cut out another coordinating paper circle with a punch. I thought about a ribbon or some other embellishment but decided to go with the less is more school of design.
What do you think??? Thanks for stopping by. P.S. The sun is shining and it's going to be warm this week so I'll be out doing yard work. May not post for a day or so.

Final Four

I spent the weekend playing basketball. Well not really. Michigan State made it to the Final Four this weekend and it was a hard fought game. I'm not sure they could have made it with out all the hootin' and hollerin' that was going on in my house. It seems as though we ran up and down the court with those athlete's. I didn't of course, I maintained my cool. Hah ! I couldn't watch the whole game, I had to flip back and fourth because every time I peeked at the game Tenn. scored or got the ball on a turnover. So Spartans you can thank me and all the other fans that worked so hard to keep you in the game. I'm sure all the yelling we did at the refs for their bonehead calls made a difference. Also all the boos we yelled at the other team, and the suggestions we made to the coaches helped too. I really think we may have been loud enough to be heard all the way there. Next weekend will be spent watching the next game and then we'll either be clebrating and waiting for Monday or in mourning. Let's hope for a celebration.
I'm not sure how much stamping I'll get done this week since the weather is suppose to be great and it will be a good time to get yard work done but I've got some new toys and I want to play.

A Totally Chic Card

I didn't have a chance to make any cards yesterday, the day was taken up with Doctor appointments for both Bruce and I (just the annual stuff we do) and running errands. So I decided to look through my cards and see if there was anything I hadn't posted before. This is what I found.
I have this really cute set from All That Scraps by Amy R.
It is Amy's Boutique and there is a companion set Boutique Sentiments. I haven't used it very much, but I wanted it for the girls in my family. This dress is a great example of the stamps. I stamped it out in cream card stock and on a paisley DP. I then cut them out and paper pieced the paisley onto the cream (and the cream onto the paisley but I didn't photo that one). The dress is mounted onto some brown Co-ordinations paper with the corners rounded. For something a little different I only rounded off the opposite corners on the sentiment (a trick I learned from my friend Sandy). I don't remember where the base DP is from. All in all I'm happy with this card.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Ridin' Rod

My step-daughters special guy's birthday is tomorrow and when I saw this digi image "Cruisin" at Karen's Doodles, well it was just too perfect. Marianne loves elephants and Rod has a Harley (of course they call it a Hog hehe).
I printed this out on Cryogen white and colored with Copics. I used so many colors I lost track of them.
I edged the focal with YR04 then mounted it to a piece of Stick-It-Felt that I've had forever!!!
I then covered my card base with DP from DCWV's La Creme matstack.
Happy Birthday Rod.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Another Vintage Picnic

This is another of the cards I made for the food baskets we're putting together this summer. I used a different Picnic Tin for this card, it's a little more of a traditional style but so fun to color. I used Prismas again (didn't want the color to bleed through the card stock). Again I used the sentiment from the Button Basics set.
Thank you PaperTrey for having so many great sets.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Fill This Day With Joy

We are doing food baskets at my church this summer (somewhere around July 4th) and we want to add cards to the baskets for a more personal touch. We do the same for the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets also.
I chose the Vintage Picnic set from PaperTrey Ink for my cards. I stamped the image directly onto the card base (keepin' it simple folks) and colored with Prismas. This set is so neat because it has five different styles of those old tin picnic baskets and many different toppers for a variety of occasions. The set includes some sentiments and other additions. (There's also a Vintage Picnic Sentiments set).
I used a sentiment from the Everyday Button Bits set stamped on Kaleidacolor Flannel ink pad. (Love those ink pads.)
I made about fifteen of these cards using only two of the five picnic tins. I'll post up the other one tomorrow.

An Oopsy Fixed

Well I really isn't a total oopsy. I wanted to use this DP from DCWV Green Stack and when I trimmed it down I cut off too much. OOPS!
So I quickly trimmed the cut off piece (which I wanted any way because of that cute little bird) and pieced it onto the card base. I then took a scrap left over from another card I had made with a coordinating paper from the same stack and made the stripe. Cool huh???
I had picked up this JustRite Just A Note Set at Stamp Therapy (formerly Stamp On It) in Grand Rapids earlier this week. I hadn't meant to buy anything more this month but with so many stamp stores going out of business I like to buy something to keep the ones left in business. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Any way I colored the center with Memento Rhubarb and believe it or not the border is Cottage Ivy. I used Copics to color the flower. Everything else is part of the DP. Another neat matstack from DCWV.
And again I apologize for the poor quality of the photo, I took it in good sunlight but I think my camera is having problems (it couldn't be my photography could it???).
Thanks for stopping by.

A JustRite Butterfly Note

I got to combine two fun things on this card. First is a page from the DCWV Mariposa pack, then I added this sentiment from JustRite's
Just A Note set. I stamped it on some coordinating paper from the Mariposa set then cut it out with a scalloped circle Nestabilities. The Matting is some copper metallic paper I had in my stash also cut out with a circle Nestie.
I'm really going to be sorry when I run out of this paper.
I won't be stamping today since it will be in the 60's and I want to be outside. Time to start cleaning up the yard from winter's mess. (We have white stone lining the driveway and the snow blowing this winter tossed them all over the yard---can we spell exercise, bending and stooping soooo good for the legs and rear.)
Bruce just left to play golf, a month earlier than last year!!! Too bad snow showers return this weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.

Have a Wonderful Day Part 2

When I was using this Hero Arts set Wavy Wishes the other day I thought it could be fun as a background set. Turns out I was right. I used Memento Cottage Ivy, Pear Tart and Bamboo Leaves to stamp it out over and over.
I stamped several times with each color without re-inking to give a faded look on some of them. I then ran Memento Rose Bud along the edge.
Then all I did was added this fabric flower to the center and mount it all onto DP from Basic Grey's Lemonade Paper Pad .
I'm adding this to my blank card stash for any occasion that might come up.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.
P.S. Happy St. Pat's Day

A Fall Picnic

Maybe fall isn't the usual time to go on picnics, but I think these colors kind of lean to that idea.
This is from Papertrey's Vintage Picnic set and
I stamped this image on Cryogen White then colored with Copics. I cut it and the mat out with Nestabilities and mounted it onto this wonderful textured paper. I truly love the colors on this card.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Have a Wonderful Day

When I was playing with the "On My Couch" set from Papertrey Ink I stamped this couch onto this striped DP scrap that I had. I just wanted to see what it would look like. I set the scrap aside and forgot about it. Well when cleaning up the scraps I found it and decided to see what I could make with it. I trimmed it out, then lightly shaded with a Copic marker (E41), just enough to give it some dimension. I mounted it to another scrap that I cut out with a Nestabilities Deckled rectangle.
I went looking for a sentiment and hauled out my old Hero Arts set Wavy Wishes. I forget about this set and I really shouldn't. I think I'm going to try using them as background on a future card. What do you think about that and about this card??? Thanks for stopping by.

DCWV with a Flower

This is another card made with DP from DCWV Mariposa paper pack. The only thing I did on this card was stamp the sentiment in the frame area and add the fabric flower with a rhinestone center.
This paper was a real find. I talked with my cousin today and she says it's not around anywhere anymore. At least not in her area. I promised to pick some up for her if I see it.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by

Butterflies and Flowers

I made the big mistake yesterday of starting spring cleaning. After all if you clean something it only gets dirty again right? (My Mom is rolling over in her grave!!!)
Anyway, I was cleaning and all the stuff I had in the area I was cleaning ended up in my dining table, so I couldn't cook dinner or breakfast (do we see a pattern??). While I was looking for space to put something I noticed this card base on my desk and creativity jumped up and grabbed me. I thought what goes with butterflies and spring/summer weather---flowers!
I dug through my stash and found this assortment of fabric flowers. I used different brads and rhinestones for the centers for some variety. The DP is DCWV Mariposa. It's an A2 size card and I'm leaving it blank so I can use it for anything.
I need to get going on my St. Patrick's Day cards now. Hope you like this one and thanks for stopping by.

A Golden Birthday

I'm sorry for the poor photography of this card. This DP from DCWV Mariposa pack is really a rich brown background for the birds and butterflies. Don't you love the tiny red butterfly and the gorgeous blue one.
All I did on this card was stamp the sentiment from Stampendous with Versamark and then emboss it wit gold powder. So simple but so pretty.
What do you think??? Thanks for stopping by.

Butterflies, Butterflies So Many Butterflies

Does anyone know why they are called butterflies??? Did they hover over the butter???
Well whatever they are beautiful.
This DP is more from the DCWV Mariposa pack. The base is covered with one sheet from the pack trimmed down to 4.25 by 5.5 (A2) and then I used Nestabilities Labels 5 to cut out the focal image butterfly, along with the two mats of cream and blue. You really have to see this paper to appreciate how pretty it is. Embossed and glittery---beautiful.
I think this will be a great birthday card for someone special.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

An Elegant Sympathy Card

This elegant sympathy card also uses one of the DCWV sheets. The paper is a very pale, soft green that doesn't show very well in this photo (my photography stinks sometimes).
All I did on this card was stamp in the sentiment.
Makes it so easy.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Another DCWV Birthday

This is another card using the DVWV Mariposa paper. On this one the only thing I stamped was the Happy Birthday sentiment from Stampendous over to the side. This paper has so much going on that I really couldn't add too much to it.
If you have a chance to get to JoAnn's today it's on sale 40% off. Hobby Lobby also carries it I think.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Butterfly Birthday

I picked up this DCWV Mariposa Matstack the other day and just yesterday got a chance to play with it. WOW, this stack is so beautiful. You really don't need to stamp anything to make a beautiful card.
I used the all over butterfly sheet as my back ground, then from another sheet used a Nestabilities Labels 3 to cut out some butterflies and then another to cut out the copper matting. I don't know if you can tell but the butterflies on the base are embossed and have a gold dotted surface. The focal point butterflies are also gold embossed. I really think this matstack is one of the most beautiful stacks out there. I made a total of six cards using this stack and you'll see them over the next few days. I'm using these as bithday cards, but I'll be making more for other occasions. Hope you like them and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Anniversary

When I was moving stuff around in my work area I came across this dark brown scrap that I had cut a heart out of for a Valentines card. Not wanting to waste it I grabbed my Basic Grey Bittersweet paper pad and started through it looking for a background. I knew I'd find something since this scrap was from the same pad. I chose this design because of all the colors in it. It really makes the heart stand out and the sentiment fits in the opening just perfectly.
So now it's in my stash of cards for future use.
Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Having One of Those Days

I've always wondered what I would ever do with this stamp. It's from Rosie Roadshow and when I first saw it I just had to have it. It made me laugh so hard remembering my days as a service rep for Ma Bell a gazillion years ago. When I first started working I worked in an office with all women. We had a blast, but there was a dress code. Dresses or suits, maybe a nice skirt and blouse, nylons of course and high heels (for which my feet are paying the price now---always 3 inch or higher).
Luckily they had ended the era of hats and gloves.
But we all had purses that could carry anything that you might need in any situation. My shoulders still hurt from carrying all that junk.

Well enough about me. I colored this card with Copics and then used a Nestabilities to "frame" it.

Hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane and the card too. Thanks for stopping by.
